Founded in 1996, AWLP strives to improve the professionalism of those working in the work-life arena and influence better integration of work and family life. In addition to serving as the membership association and thought-leader for the profession, AWLP also addresses work-life issues through publications, forums, surveys and as an education provider, including certificate courses. The Center for WorkLife Law (WLL) - www.worklifelaw.org and www.pardc.org
A nonprofit organization that seeks to eliminate employment discrimination against employees with caregiving responsibilities, such as mothers and fathers of young children and adults with aging parents. WLL provides training and consulting on unexamined gender bias and family responsibilities discrimination. WLL’s Project for Attorney Retention works with employers to set up “balanced hours” (non-stigmatized part-time) programs. WLL is based at UC Hastings College of the Law and is directed by professor and author Joan C. Williams. Working with her as WLL’s director of training and consulting is Linda Marks.
